Industrial Automation for Mining Equipment Manufacturers

Mining puts equipment under extreme stress — abrasion, impact, heat, and corrosion degrade components faster than in almost any other industry. Rebuilding, refurbishing, and manufacturing mining equipment efficiently requires automation that can handle large, heavy parts at high production volumes while maintaining the material quality that makes components last in the field.

BP Automation builds custom automation systems in Edmonton for mining equipment fabricators, wear part producers, and mine site maintenance operations across Alberta — oil sands, coal, aggregate, potash, and hard rock mining. We engineer systems around your parts, your alloys, and your production requirements.

Mining Sectors We Build Automation For

  • Oil sands — heavy equipment fabrication, bucket and lip rebuilding, conveyor component hardfacing
  • Coal mining — wear part production, cutting edge rebuilding, structural component welding
  • Aggregate & quarrying — crusher liner cladding, chute and hopper wear protection, screen frame fabrication
  • Potash — corrosion-resistant overlay, conveyor systems, processing equipment fabrication
  • Hard rock mining — drill component rebuilding, ground engaging tool hardfacing, structural equipment

Why Automate Mine Equipment Fabrication?

Mining wear parts fail fast. The economics of mine operations depend on keeping equipment in the field longer — and that means producing rebuilt or new wear parts quickly, consistently, and at a cost that makes rebuilding worthwhile versus replacement.

Manual hardfacing and welding can’t keep up with the volume or consistency that high-output mining operations demand. An automated hardfacing machine runs the same alloy, the same parameters, the same bead pattern on every part — so your rebuilt components perform predictably and your maintenance schedules become reliable.

Mining Automation FAQs

What alloys can your hardfacing machines apply?

Our machines are configured for the alloy your application requires — chromium carbide composite, tungsten carbide, martensitic hard-face wires, nickel-based alloys, and others. The machine is built around your alloy and process, not the other way around.

Can you build systems for very large or heavy components?

Yes — we regularly build systems for large mining components including excavator buckets, dragline buckets, large crusher frames, and other heavy structures. Our designs scale to the part size and weight requirements of the application.

Do you serve mine sites or just equipment manufacturers?

Both. We build automation for dedicated wear part manufacturers and rebuilders, and also for mine sites that run their own fabrication and maintenance shops and want to bring rebuild operations in-house.

Where are you located and how far do you travel for commissioning?

We’re based in Edmonton, Alberta and travel throughout Western Canada for installation and commissioning. Most of our mining customers are in Alberta, but we’ve delivered systems across BC, Saskatchewan, and beyond.
